Default Opening Directory

Is it possible to specify a Default directory you want
Word (2000) to display when choosing File/Open?

Yes. Change the path for "Documents" on the File Locations tab of Tools |
Options. Note that this just determines the folder Word will start in. After
you've opened a file from any other folder, it will default to that folder
(except that if you Save As, it will default to the folder where the current
document is saved).
