default options

Can I set up Excell charts with defaults such as:

1. X & Y grid lines are always on
2. the legend is always on the bottom
3. The X axis does not exceed my data range
4. The X axis labels are always at the bottom even when my Y data ranges
from, say, -5 to +100.

I found none of these in the standard default setups. I use XY scatter most
of the time.

Thanks for your time,

I forgot to mention one of the more important, default colors. Yellow,
lavender, and soft wimpy colors like that don't print worth a darn in black
and white. I want the defaults to be blue, red, green and the such.

Make a custom default chart with all of these features. Item 3 might not
fall under what can be done here. To get axis labels at the bottom,
double click the axis, and on the Patterns tab, select Low for Tick
Labels. Choose colors, gridlines, legend position to suit.

Right click the chart, choose Chart Type, click on Custom Types, then
click User Defined, and Add. Enter a name and description and press OK.
Click Set As Default Chart, then click OK until all the dialogs are closed.
