Default or manual entry

I am trying to create a master select query to manage both US and Asia/Europe
employee info. I have live access via linked ODBC table to our US employees
master data. So I want to populate the query and related fields via lookup
for US employees and manually enter the fields for Asia/Europe empoloyees.
How do I set a query field to populate with linked data, if available, or
allow manual entry?
