Default order of Tasks

Does anyone know what the default order is of tasks listed in My Tasks on
Project Server 2007????

The initial sort order is by Start date. If your Project Server
administrator has changed the columns shown in the My Assignments view on
the My Tasks page, then all bets are off. Also, there continue to be a few
issues with sort order. The initial sort is on the Start field in Ascending
order. If you click a task to see the Assignment Details page, and then
return to the My Tasks page, often the sorting order changes from Ascending
to Descending on the Start column. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale for replying. That is interesting. Microsoft told us "the sort is
by Project Name in alphabetical order then by Task name in alphabetical
order. However, the user can sort it anyway they wish by clicking on the
headings." Which we already knew that the user can control how they view
their tasks and sort the colums, but we couldn't figure out what the default
order is because it didn't look like the tasks were in alphabetical order and
they surely weren't in order by start date. Hmmm. If the administrator added
a column at then removed it from the view, would it go back to its default
state (what ever that may be)???

Oops! Yes, the Microsoft staff is correct indeed. Please forgive my memory
slip. My reference to the Start column is what a team member should
immediately do on the My Tasks page. The alphabetical order of task names
is no help to team members whatsoever. By sorting on the Start field, team
members can see their tasks in chronological order. The flakiness is with
this column when the team member views the Assignment Details page. By the
way, to sort on the Start column, the team members should click the Start
column header. An little blue upward-pointing arrow will appear, indicating
an Ascending sort on this column. Again, please forgive my memory slip. :)

All's forgiven!!! I think I know what is causing our problem. A column was
added to the my tasks view a couple of months ago, but it is not being used.
The column just happens to be before the listed tasks under "Task Name",
which I think is our culpret. So thank you for mentioning the part about
changing the views. I do have another question--Is there a way to make the
start date the default sorted column instead of task name????

Unfortunately, I do not know of any way to force the default sorting order
on the Start field instead of the Task Name field. Thus, this makes it a
training and performance issue. Hope this helps.

Darn--I was hoping you wouldn't say that. It's strange that MS gives the
Admin the capability of rearranging the view, but not the default sort order.
Anyway, thanks for your help!!!
