Default Page Size

Does anyone know how to set a default page size in Word (and all
Office X apps on that note), so I don't have to change it from US
Letter to A4 all the time?

Thanks!

Assuming you are on Mac OS X 10.3
system prefs->print and fax->Default paper size in page Setup ->A4

Word templates may try to override that. It is your choice.

Changing that system pref setting does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It may affect
other apps, but not Word for OS X.

I bought Office when I lived in America. I now live in Australia, and like
the first post, it is one of the most frustrating things about my workday to
have to manually change the page setup of EVERY SINGLE NEW DOCUMENT to be A4
instead of US Letter.

Surely there is a way to fix this! Help us, anybody please!

Find your Normal template (probably in the Templates folder in the Office
folder in Apps). Open up Normal, change the paper size in Page Setup. That
should change it for all new documents based on Normal (the regular new
documents).

Before you close Normal, you might have to type and backspace a space so
that Normal knows changes have been made that it needs to save. You can
tell by looking at the Undo command--if it's greyed out, make a fake change.

Whew! I am so grateful for that. It worked perfectly. I had thought of that
and already tried it with no results. Made me mad! The only thing I hadn't
done was type and backspace to have a typed change to save. Who would have
thought!

Thanks again. I am a happy man now.

Hi John:

Yeah, it's easy. Dayo has told you how. Just remember this: if the Normal
template ever gets damaged, Word will replace it. When it does, it will
choose the current OS keyboard language to set the defaults: if your
operating system is set to US English, you will get imperial paper sizes.

Cheers
