Default position of a graphic be absolute relative to the page?

Stephan

I want the default positioning of my graphics to be relative to the page.
Currently the only way I know to do this is to import a graphic file then
using the right mouse button to Format Picture. Under the Layout tab I then
select the Advanced ... button.
In the Advanced Layout panel I can then specify to use the Absolute position
to the right of the Page for Horizontal and below the Page for Vertical
positioning.

Too many steps...

Need to set a default for these parameters.

Hi Stephan -

If you mean you want the graphic to stay in a specific spot on a particular
page - no matter what - forget it. Word does not work that way. In fact, the
concept of physical pages isn't a part of Word's design (or any other word
processing program for that matter).

The graphics are actually anchored to either a) a spot in a line of text
(InLine), or b) a paragraph (Floating, or with 'Text Wrap' applied). Either
way, the graphic flows with the text it is anchored to. I understand that the
way the Advanced dialog box is designed gives a different impression, but
that is what it is.

If you want page-specific absolute positioning for graphic elements, you
need to use a Desktop Publishing/Page Layout program.

I'm probably way off base here, but couldn't you just insert a graphic into a
header or footer to enforce a consistent location on each page?

The graphics are going to be different...

I found a solution, or actually I got Bill Coan to write a macro that will
force any new graphics to default to the fixed to the page and locked anchor,
and he even went one step further and wrote another macro that will chnage
all the existing graphics tothe page and fixed format. He's really good....

Are those macros available? I'd pay good money for them. I go absolutely
nuts trying to write grant applications with inserted data graphs and
pictures that never stay in the right place. I know they're anchored to a
paragraph and I use that to place them, but then text charge 5 pages back and
all heck breaks loose.
