Default settings for Office 2003 rollout using ORK

John Beeson

Hi there,

I'm in the pilot phase of upgrading our existing Office 2000 desktop
installations to Office 2003, using an admin install and created an MST file
to rollout Office 2003. Currently each workstation install has different
file locations for where saves file and therefore to enforce on location on
each workstation.

I want to be able to upgrade office and use a standard set of file
locations. In ORK you can create an MST file and set the locations. I've
also done an install on a workstation and saved an OPS file with the settings
and included this into an updated MST file. I have not ticked the option to
migrate the user settings.

However when I do an install from the admin location using the MST and
upgrade an Office 2000 on a workstation, Word 2003 is still keeping the
existing users configuration. Is there a way I can force these settings and
overright the users existing settings.

Thanks,

John.

Hi John,
You can use Group Policy to enforce your default fle locations. The ORK
includes template ADM files you can use for setting your GP, and the GP will
be enforced every time the user(s) log on.
