Default shapes are 3D

BillD

when i draw diagrams, all of my shapes default to 3D. I
want the default to be 2 dimensional but i don't see any
settings in the tools/options window.

Most annoying is tables. If i try to fill a cell with a
particular color, it turns that cell to 3D.

Help!

Try this. Create a shape and select it. Choose Format AutoShape from
the Format menu. Set your settings how you want them to be and check the
box "Default for new Objects." Let us know if that helps.

Look down at the bottom of your PPT screen. See the Draw toolbar? On the
right end of the toolbar is a button that looks like a 3-D. (If you hover
over this button, it will say 3-D.) Here's how to use it to turn off the 3-D
settings:

1) Click one of the 3-D shapes to select it.
2) Click the button and drag up to "No 3-D"

Having said that: Are you sure they are 3-D? Is it possible that they have a
shadow instead? If so, try messing with the options for the shadow button
which is the one next to the 3-D one.

Kathy,
Thanks. I am aware of the 3D function on the lower
toolbar. This is how i turn off the 3D on the objects.
The issue is definitely 3D and not shadow. No matter what
new object i draw (box, circle, line, etc) it comes up
3D. I have to then manually turn it off for each object.
Any other suggestions?

After setting one of your shapes to "No 3-D," right-click on the shape,
and choose "Set Auto Shape Defaults." That should do it.
