Default Start Time - Recurring Task

Hi,

I have changed the Project calender and the Working time Standard Calendar
to start Mon - Fri at 9 instead of 8 a.m.

All tasks respect this when I add them, except Recurring tasks. They
maintain the default of 8:00 a.m.

Any idea why and how to resolve?

The fastest way may be to delete and re-add the uncompleted recurring tasks.
You can also manually type a complete time into the start column: 4/10/2008
9:00AM. That will correct it also, but requires you to touch every recurring
task.

Hi - thanks so much for your response.

I can actually just adjust the time when adding the recurring task. I guess
my question was more - Why does Project not respect the Start Time set in the
project calendar and the Standard Calendar. If they both are set to start at
9, why does it always revert back to 8:00 am.

Is this a bug in the software?

Hi Deeh,

When you change the settings in Tools/Options.../Calendar, Project will use
those settings for all subsequent tasks. It will not change data already
entered. You must re-enter Durations for tasks already entered, and that
goes for recurring tasks. If you enter a new recurring task I would expect
it to respect the new start time.

All "regular" tasks respect this, but the recurring task does not - I must
change it manually.

That's why I'm wondering if there is a bug in the software, although I
haven't come across anyone else having this problem.

BTW, I am using Project 2003.

Try Project/Project Information... and ensure the Start Date is also set to
0900.

Mystery solved!! Thanks so much, Mike. I should have thought of that.
Everywhere you look, the Working Times and Tools, Options, Calendar settings
are stressed, but not much mention (that I can recall) of this also being in
synch.
