Default table options

In Word 2003 it seems the default option for tables is that
the cell in a table expands (resizes horizontally)to
whatever you type. In the table options setting you can set
it to word wrap such that this does not occur (this was the
way Word 97 worked). However it doesn't seem that this
table option setting remembers and you have to set this
option everytime you create a new document. Is this default
stored somewhere? Why doesn't it stick?

Thanks for your help

Elmer, how are you creating tables? In Word 2003, when I create a table, I
use Table > Insert > Table... In that dialog box, for me the default is
fixed column widths. In that dialog, you can choose which kind of tables you
get; make sure fixed column widths are selected and you shouldn't have any
problems.
