default task settings (priority and constraint type)

I've dug through the archives, and it appears that in the past there
has been no way to change a new task's priority to something other
than 500.

I wanted to bring this question up again for people who are familiar
with Project 2007. There are two values in my current setting that I
really want to change the defaults on, but I'm not seeing a way to do
it... so my guess is these defaults are still functioning similarly to
previous versions of Project.

The defaults I'm currently getting for new tasks:
Priority: 500
Constraint Type: Start No Earlier Than

I would *like* for my defaults to be:
Priority: 0
Constraint Type: As Soon As Possible

Once again, my search through this group's archives yielded me an
answer that leads me to believe I really can't change this, but If
anyone does have some insight, I would appreciate it.

Thank you,
Mike

The reason your tasks default to "Start no Earlier Than" is that you have
the option in Tools-Options-Schedule for New Tasks to "Start on Current
Date". This gives all new tasks a SNET constraint. Change this so that New
Tasks "Start on Project Start Date". New tasks will then have the ASAP
constraint.

Don't think you can define the default Priority setting so that might have
to be handled through VBA. Others here may have an idea on this...
