Default Time Zone not Selected for Meeting Requests

R

Ron Kaplan

I am using Office 11.3.4 with Exchange. When sending out an invitation
request, some recipients receive the wrong time for the meeting. When
looking at the time zone option, I notice that no time zone is selected.
When I select the correct time zone and resend, all is right with the world.

From now on, I am checking to make sure that the time zone is selected even
though the preferences have the default time zone correctly selected.

Has anyone noticed this kind of behavior?

Thank you.

I live in Perth, my time zone is set to Perth, Entourage Prefs default set
to Perth.
Last night I received an auto update to download something about time zones.
Western Australia recently introduced daylight saving, and I had to change
my Date and Time settings not to set automatically. After the download and
restart, I noticed my mac clock an hour out, so I opened Date & Time and
checked the set date and time automatically. This seemed to fix it.

Then this morning I noticed my Entourage calendar entries were all an hour
out, but on opening an item, the time was correct, just in the calendar
view. Checked individual Time Zones also set to Perth.

I don¹t know if I can post html, but I¹ll try pasting some screen shots...

Note Entourage thinks my computer time zone is set to Kuala Lumpur,
Singapore. But it¹s not, and never was. It did used to be set to Hong Kong
however because that¹s where I lived until July 2006.

Can't send with screen shots, so I'll have to remove them.

It was driving me crazy, so I kept at it, and realised I didn¹t have the
latest Entourage update. On downloading and installing the 11.3.3 update,
the problem has been solved thank goodness.

I live in Hong Kong, but after I installed Apple's Daylight Saving
Update (for Panther) my calendar events in Entourage 2004 (updated to
11.3.4) began displaying at Perth time (one hour earlier)! I checked
the time-zone preference in Entourage, and it was set for Perth. I
believe this was an unintended consequence of the Apple update. Oddly
enough, however, the time-zone preference in System Preferences has
always been correct (i.e., Hong Kong). I have reset the Entourage
time-zone preference to Hong Kong. This seems to have solved the
display problem for new events but not for preexisting events. Anyone
have any idea how to resolve this? Thanks.

I'm seeing something similar at a client who recently switched to
Exchange Server 2003 and Entourage 2004 for their Mac clients. In
there case, when someone sends a invitation to a meeting, often times,
the meeting time will be 3 hours earlier. This makes sense in that
their server is located on the west coast and the office here is on
the east coast. The time on the server when logged in via webmail is
also 3 hours off. I have not found a way to correct this situation on
the client side even if their's settings are correct for local time.
I'm going to persue further with the server admins (I'm an outside
consultant who comes in twice a month and only see things from my end
user's point of view).

Anyone else have suggestions?

Vitals:
Mix of G5s, Mac Pros and MacBook Pros.
OS X 10.4.8
Entourage 2004 11.3.3.

This does not seem related to he Daylight Savings changes.
