Default to preferred file view

I receive new file versions from colleagues that require me to reestablish my
tables, filters and views each time I open a new file. Can I change my local
client of Project to default to a specific structure maintaining my tables,
filters, etc?

Thanks!

If you have created custom Views, Tables, Filters, and Groups, you should
copy them into your Global.mpt file using the Organizer tool (Tools -
Organizer). Then, whenever you open anyone else's project, you can simply
click the View menu to apply your own custom View(s). Hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply Dale. Your method is one I already employ. I was
trying to find an automated approach where I don't have to apply the
Global.mpt to the newely opened file. I am sure there is some way to do this,
I just can't quite grab it. Any replies are welcome. Thanks.

If you create a custom View that includes your custom Table, your custom
Filter, and your custom Group, and place it in the Global.mpt, then it will
only take you two clicks of the mouse to apply everything in that project.
I fail to see how there might be any simpler way to accomplish your goal.
But if anyone else has a better idea, so be it.

Dale,

A single mouse click would be simpler! In fact it would cut the effort
involved in HALF! If you could please reduce your process to a single mouse
click that would be great... if you need help I understand that Gary has a
new wand <grin>.

You are WAY TOO FUNNY! Unfortunately, I cannot use Microsoft Magic Wand 1.0
because it does not work with Windows Vista. I will have to wait for the
new and improved Microsoft Magic Wand 2.0 for Windows Vista. Since
Microsoft Magic Wand 2.0 will be mind-activated, using it will require NO
mouse clicks. Instead, a user can merely "think" about what he/she wants
the software to do, and it will do it. :)
