Default to white, solid background in text box

Jon

Hello All,

Can anyone give me some guidance on how I can make text boxes in Visio open
with a solid, white background by default?

The default transparent background makes the text hard to read - as I'm
often creating a text box on top of a image. It's pretty tiresome having to
change the background via formatting options each time.

Thanks for any help in advance

Create a text box with the attributes you require, create a new
stencil and drop your new shape into the stencil. Save the stencil in
My Stencils or similar. Now you can open your stencil and use your
shape whenever you need it.

Hey Jon,

You could define a style for the document.

You can read about styles here:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa200992(office.10).aspx

Unfortunately, there's no good way to define things "globally" in Visio.

And in Visio 2007, the style menu items and toolbar buttons are buried.
(You need to activate "Run in Developer Mode" under Tools > Options >
Advanced tab)

Once you've got a style defined, say "Bitmap Text", you can apply it to
a dummy master and save it to "My Shapes > Favorites".

When you drop the dummy master into a document, the styles applied to it
will come along and be available to apply to your shapes.

Or you could build a template that contains the styles, and always start
your drawings from that template.
