Default View (Groups)

I upgraded to Office 2004. Entourage now insists that I view my mail in
Groups (View / Arrange By... / Show in Groups.

I personally think Groups are annoying and get in the way.

It doesn't appear that MS decided to give the user control over this in
Preferences.

So...is there any way to turn off Groups as the default view? I just want a
list of my mail sorted by date, newest messages on top of list.

Hi Steve,

you can turn this off by clicking on the "Show in Groups" menu entry you
mentioned. Right now, you should see a tick in front of that option; if you
click on it, the tick will disappear, as will the group panels. However, the
settings are folder-specific; there's no way of disabling them globally, at
least not as far as I know. Maybe it could be done via AppleScript.

Thanks, Michel. Yes, I knew how to change the setting while I am using
Entourage. What I want is the program to start in that mode, i.e., no Groups
showing. I can't believe MS left that out of the Preferences!

Steve,

I have this same problem. Also, I would like to change the default or
global column views. I hope someone can help us with this as I've had
to rebuild my database twice in the last few months and it is a real
pain to change this view settings on two dozen folders!

Thanks,

Tom
