Default viewing-any help please ????

I can't work out how to ensure the default is set to view
all folders and .docs as a List then sort as type. In
other words , i would like my folders to open to the
default of View-List-Order by Type.

Any suggestions?

If you're talking about Word's File Open and File Save dialogs, they should
reopen in the view in which you left them. Choose the List view from the
Views menu. In order to set the order by Type, however, you will have to
first display the Details view and click on the Type heading, then change
back to List.
