Default Workbook

Hi
How can I tell Excel 2008 to use a customized template on start instead of
using the default template with nothing in it.
To keep such a template in Office > Start did it with Excel 2004 but doesn't
seem to work in Excel 2008.

Thanks from Munich

Hi Wolfram -

Have you saved it as an Excel Template (.xltx but without the extension) by
the name of Workbook & stored it in the Applications/Microsoft Office
2008/Office/Startup/Excel folder? Also, you must restart Excel in order for
it to first use the template.

Exact steps are in the Excel Help topic: "Control how workbooks and sheets
are created" although not much different than 2004. The real trick is making
sure the file doesn't have the extension - even if you delete it when saving
the extension will still be added when you save if there is a check in the
Append File Extension dialog.
