default?

As I don't see a Windows7 newsgroup, I'm hoping one of you Powerpoint
veterans can clue me in. I've just installed Office 2010 Beta. I had
previously been using the Corel office packages and, thus, their
presentation program is my default. I wanted to change defaults and
clicked on the set defaults setting on the drop down menu but none of
the Office programs show up to be selected and I can't find anything on
that page about adding a program etc. I've also looked at all the
various selections within Powerpoint hoping to find something about
making it the default but can't find a thing about it.

Can and will any of you clue me in as to how to get this done? I
assume if I simply remove the Corel package it would happen
automatically but I'd really like to know how to do it without having to
do that.

Thanks,
Tim

I find the easiest way is to locate one of your document files in Windows
Explorer, right click on it and select Open With if your program of choice
is not there as an option you have the option to browse and look for it.

I'm not clear on something ... what do you want to make PowerPoint the
default *for*? Or to put it differently, what do you do now, what happens
when you do it, and what would you like it to do differently?

Every now and then I get a Powerpoint attachment to an e-mail and while
the WordPerfect presentations program converts and plays it, if there's
sound, I usually don't get it. I don't make presentations so it's no
big deal...simply a matter of convenience.
