defaults for word 2000 documents

I would like to change the defaults so that I don't have
to change the page setup every time I open a new document.
Specifically, it openes with the first line indented .17"
and I'd like to change that to zero.
It opens with an exact line height and I'd like to change
that to "single."
I know how to make those changes on each and every
document, but after many searches and using that annoying
Office Assistant paperclip, searching the Help on-line,
etc. -- after HOURS of wasted effort -- I cannot find any
option that allows me to change the document defaults.

I did find out how to change the font defaults following
the bove mentioned trails, but using the same strategy did
not give me the option to change justification, etc.

Can anybody hlep, or is this something I'll have to live
with?

Carole,

Open the document template and make the changes there.
Save the changes when closing the template. The default
template is named Normal.dot
