I'm looking for a Defect Tracking software package that integrates with MS
project maybe VSS for under $4000, can someone make a recommendation...?

Thanks,

Dan

Use Bugzilla ... free. Lare use of it. No direct link with Project (that
I know of), but maybe that no bad thing.

Thanks,

If this is the home of bugzilla (http://www.bugzilla.org), I'm not
interested, looking for something that is well supported on the windows
platform, doesn't appear to be the case here..

The Bugzilla Team continues to recommend Unix-based operating systems,
including Linux, as the best platform for a Bugzilla installation; please
consider it if you are starting a new Bugzilla installation and have some
say in the platform decision. Trust us: it makes life easier for everyone.
Bugzilla-on-Win32 is still unchanged: administrators using Win32 as their
platform for Bugzilla do not want the 2.16 branch, including 2.16.1, nor do
they want 2.17.1. The plan is to make the trunk Win32-friendly (which
involves a number of quite large changes, and which unfortunately did not
happen in this release cycle) and then announce that fact, allowing Win32
Bugzilla administrators to pull from the trunk on a known tag. This may
become a 2.17.2 release. Interested admins can search bugzilla on the
[needed for Win32bz] status whiteboard entry to track bugs that are part of
this process.

Hi,
We do have a product that includes bug tracking capabilities, but it's in
Spanish. I don't know if it would suit your needs.

On the other side, we can help you with the integration problem, even if you
choose other tool.
Most of the time, some type of relationship can be found between project and
WBS, and product, components and versions. So you could analyze testing
activities mixing information from both applications, Project Server and the
bug tracker.
Some times, you can also relate people between the applications, but this is
more difficult, because of the number of people involved in the defect life
cycle.

To get useful analysis, some care has to be taken at the time of the
definition of the component tree and the WBS, and the use of versions along
the projects should follow some rule.

If you are interested, let me know

Dan,

You may want to look at Visual Intercept from Elsinore Technologies
(http://www.elsitech.com). Elsinore has a product that is offered on
a dual license that supplies users with the option of accessing the
issue tracking system via desktop, web or both. Visual Intercept is
integrated with all of the MS Productivity tools including VSS and MS
Project.

Take a look at:
http://www.issue-defect-bug-tracking.com/
but there is no build-in MS project integration.
