Define "No Proofing" style

I use right-click "Ignore All" extensively and wish to assign a
keyboard shortcut.

It appears this can't be done w/ a macro and applying a Style is the
recommended solution.

I have done this and it works, BUT applying the style removes whatever
existing formatting there is. I want to "add" the "No Proofing"
aspect to whatever formatting/style has already been assigned to the
text (bold, heading, strike-through, etc.)

Here is the style def I tried: Default Paragraph font + No Proofing

I assume the "Default Paragraph... part is the issue so I also tried:
"The font of the underlying paragraph style + No Proofing" but it does
not work either.

So... how do I mark a word, "do not spell check" via style (or vba)
such that existing formatting is left intact.

Thanks

I don't think you can. You have to apply the "no proofing" character style
first, then the other direct font formatting. Default Paragraph Font just
means the font of the underlying paragraph style. If you have applied a
heading style and the font properties are defined as part of that style,
then applying a "no proofing" style should not change them.

Aplying "No Proofing" most certainly can be done with a macro. Select your
text, then turn on macro recording, and
in W'07: Review, Set Language, Do not check spelling...
earlier: Tools, Language, Set Language, Do not check spelling...

Stop recording. Assign the macro to a hot key. Now you can select text,
press your hotkey and no proofing will be applied without modifying the
underlying formatting.

Perfect, that seems to do exactly what I want!
Thanks
