Definition of "Overdue Tasks"

What, exactly, makes a task overdue?

We are assuming that a task is considered overdue when it is not complete
and the finish date has elapsed, but we aren't getting email notifications
about such tasks. Interestingly enough, however, we are getting notifications
after these tasks are marked partially complete.

Jeremy:

Are you correctly tracking your plan? Do you run an update from Tools >
Tracking each week to reschedule incomplete work? This is essential for
tasks that are scheduled to start, but haven't started, and therefore not
updated by the resource/pm update cycle.

Thanks for the info, but I guess I was more interested in what conditions,
exactly, triggers an overdue task email?

Jeremy:

Schedule changes trigger emails. Updating projects plans with timesheet
updates from resources trigger schedule changes as do updates Project
Managers apply to tasks when resources fail to work on tasks, as I described
in my previous post. I have a feeling your PMs are missing the Tracking >
Update step which will cause the schedule changes triggering the emails.
