delay of display when hitting File Open

Nancy Yeager

We just bought a computer with Office XP on it. The
default directory has a lot of subdirectories under it.
When we hit File Open we have a delay of the list for
about 20 seconds. For the user it seems like a lifetime
compared to the instant display that we had with Office
97. Does anyone have a resolution for me?

Thanks.

If you have IE inline autocomplete enabled, then Office may be looking
through a bunch of old network connections. Strip any of these out in
Network Neighborhood.
