Delay start of Video in PowerPoint

I wish to start the video part way through as described in the MS tutorial
Playing Movies (see below). I have been unable to get a delayed start to
work despite trying it on several different computers and with several
different video files. Has anyone done this successfully? Any suggestions?

PowerPoint to start it at that point: In the Custom Animation task pane,
display the menu for the movie effect and click Effect Options. The options

It seems to work with an MPG here in PPT 2003.

What version of PPT are you using?
What type of video file are you using?

The problem seems to be solved. I believe now that I was entering a number
that was too high. The Play Movie dialog has the format 00:00 seconds - I
interpreted the 2 digits after the colon to indicate 1/100 of a seconds so
for 12 seconds I entered 12:00 seconds but I just tried it now with 00:12
seconds and that works fine. Therefore the Play Movie dialog should probably
read 00:00 minutes - by entering it as 12:00 - this was longer than the brief
movie hence it didn't work. Thank you for your assistance.

Thank you for trying it. I am using PPt 2003 and I've tried it with an mpg
file and an avi on several computers without success.

It seems to work with an MPG here in PPT 2003.

that dialog is a bit wonky.
