Delayed Delivery - wont get sent. [OL2003]

In 2002 I could forward a drafted message with a delay of so many days. It would actually SEND the composed mail to the server which would hold it until the specified date/time of delivery. No worries left for me, I could shut down my pc and leave and it would still get delivered

I updated to 2003 (required at work) and tried to do this and it keeps saving the mail in my outbox without sending it to the server... THIS IS BAD. I know you say I should leave my PC on, but I'm not supposed to, but I still need that message delivered at exactly that time... How can I fix this and force it to sync up to the server for server side processing.

Hmmm - I don't remember off-hand whether or not Outlook 2002 had this option
(I know 2000 and older versions did), but were you previously setting this
option using File | Properties on the new message, or were you setting this
in the new message's Options dialog?

Have you tested to see whether or not the deferred message is eventually set
if you're machine is left on (set it for an hour or something in the
future)? Of course, I happen to be on the road right now without access to
my Exchange Servers, so I can't test this, but I don't think this
functionality has changed. Outlook still should forward the message to the
MTA to hold until delivery. If you check Tools | E-Mail Accounts | Next |
Microsoft Exchange Server | Change | More Settings | Advanced, are you set
to use Cached Exchange Mode? If so, does the deferred delivery behavior
change by unchecking the cached mode option and restarting Outlook?

I think it's not synching the Outbox with Caching turned on. Before leaving,
if you open Outlook Offline, and then try to manually synchronize, I'll bet
the pending messages will leave teh Outbox and go to the MTA where they
belong. ...worth a try at least

I tried that and all of my pending deliveries dissappeared... but I tested
it and the ones I tried to send myself wouldn't send. I turned the caching
back on and the previous missing pending deliveries reappeared, and the test
ones i tried to sent went.
I'm mostly concerned with being out of town on a day that a message is to
be delivered and with my pc down it not being delivered.
