Delayed send won't disengage

I use my laptop computer when I travel. Several weeks ago, the last time I
had it out, I used the delayed sending option for Outlook 2007 email so that
a mailing would be sent very early the next morning. I used the "one time
delay" option, going to the options tab, hitting delay sending, then setting
the time for the email to be sent. It worked just fine.

Now I discover that all of my email from the laptop is being held up because
of the delayed send feature. When two messages stalled in the outbox, I went
to options, and found, to my surprise, that both were set for a delayed
transmission time. I removed the check mark for that feature, closed the
options box, and then tried to send the messages once again. And once again,
they would not leave the outbox. A recheck revealed that the delayed send
option was again checked... but not by me, somehow by the computer.

How do I regain control of sending? I want messages to move out immediately,
not at some future date and time selected entirely by the computer.
