{Delayed Write Failed}

P

Paul West

I have a problem with saving an attachment from an email to a network drive.
The error in the System Log is this...

{Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all the data for the file
\Device\Lanman\Redirector. The data has been lost.....

Does anyone know what this means or how I can fix it?

Thanks,

PW

This means that write caching was enabled for the network drive and you've
lost your connection to the remote computer before all of the data can be
written.

There's also a nest of recent problems with Delayed Write Failures for
local/external/network drives on Windows XP that seems to have cropped up
since one of the recent hotfixes was applied. The problem surfaces even
where write caching is NOT enabled (I experience this aggravation myself).
There are a good number of hardware forums and tech press articles on this
issue, but no universal solutions.
