delegate permissions

Can someone send me a link explaining how delegate permissions work in
outlook 2003?

Specifically,

- why is my permisson button grayed when I use Tools | Options | Delegates
| Add with some profiles but not others (ie. my own profile does not allow
me to set permissions)

- what is the difference between using the above method and selecting the
properties of a specific folder and setting permissions there (ie. right
clicking calendar | Properties | Permissions)

I don't know why the permission button is disabled, but I can answer your other question. Granting access through the Delegates tab does three things:

1) Sets permissions on the desired folders
2) Grants the delegate Send On Behalf Of permission over your mailbox
3) Adds a hidden rule to forward meeting and task requests and responses to your delegate

The Permissions tab on a folder does only #1.

Thanks, that is good to know.

The permission button is disabled in my account and I have exchange full
admin, domain admin, local admin, earth/moon/sky admin... I don't know why
I would have a permission problem.

Also, the button was disabled on one of our user's accounts but if I create
a profile for that user, I can open it on my machine and set his permissions
via the delegates tab.

At least I have one reliable method.
