delegate rights email - how can u leave it as unread when u read

When you have delegate rights to your bosses email, once you read the message
from your machine, how can you make sure that it remains as unread in their
inbox?

I would suggest marking the e-mail as unread until your boss has read it and
perhaps use categories to state whether it has been read by yourself your
boss or both of you.

That is a good idea. But in my previous position, it didn't matter what I
did to the emails that I read, they always remained unread in my bosses inbox
until he had read them so I presume it must be something within the settings
that I have wrong.

Any advice?
