Delegation of timesheet approval

Sumit

Dear All,

My client doesn't want Project Managers to approve timesheets. In this
scenario can we assign approval rights to one person, who can accept all
timesheet changes?

If i make this guy a part of resource manager group, will it work? Also if
we do this then would there be any problem with submitted timesheets?

Regards,
Sumit.

The person you want to process all of the timesheet task updates must open
each project, click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments, select
the "Become the manager for these assignments" option and click OK. Doing
so will cause Project Server to redirect all task updates to that person.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick response. The idea here is to keep it as simple as
possible and client sees this approval process as a hurdle.

We don't want to change the ownership instead assign timesheet approval
rights to some project support office who can manually do this in case it
cannot be bypassed.

Isn't there any way to disable approval of timesheets?

Sumit

I am sympathetic to your situation, but there is no way to disable the
approval of task updates in Project Server. Microsoft's assumption is that
someone needs to be at least minimally involved with the task
approval/update process.

How about this idea: Use the steps in my previous post to transfer
managership of each project to someone in the project support office, and
then that person should create Rules on the Updates page in PWA to rapidly
process task updates. Do know, however, that the person will still need to
click the Run Rules Now button to activate the processing of Rules in PWA.
That's the best I have to offer. Hope this helps.

Dear Dale,

I know the rule this... did check is we can run it programmatically but then
it has to open it in MS project...

Thanks a lot for your advise )

Sumit
