delete a document

P

PTT, Inc.

You would normally use Windows Explorer and browse to the folder where the
file is kept, select it then press the DELETE key. However, you can open
Word, click "File", "Open", browse to the folder where your file is,
right-click on it, then select "DELETE" from the shortcut menu.

how do you delete a document that you dont want
.
Please let me know if you find out. I have a document on
the "list" and I tried to delete it from the list and then
from "My Documents" and it won't let me delete it. It's
not a big deal but it's driving me nuts. Thanks

If you have the file open in Word, you won't be able to delete it from
Explorer. What error message do you get (if any) and with what Windows
version?

Please respond in the same thread on this newsgroup. Make sure you
include details of your application and Windows versions, and whether
or not you have included any service pack updates.

If by "the list" you mean the MRU list at the bottom of the File menu, you
can delete it from there by pressing Alt+Ctrl+Hyphen and then clicking on
it. Be careful with this shortcut, as it will delete *any* menu item you
click on (but it's "used up" after one use, and you can dismiss it with
ESC).
