Delete a Group is corrupted.

All of a sudden I cannot delete a group in my reports. I thought it might be
a corruption in just one report but I've opened up a couple different
databases and have discovered they are all doing the same thing.

When I click on the X to delete a group level in a report I immediately get
the Access has encountered and problem and will shut down the program. Then
it opens back up and I have to save a back up before it will let me open the
database up again. The group has not been deleted either.

Is my program corrupted in some way or do I have another issue going on
here? I'm using Access 2007 on Vista.
Help!

Cindy,

Make sure that you have all the service packs and patches for both Vista and
Office 2007. Reboot your machine after applying each service pack, and only
reboot after patching if prompted. If the problem persists, post back, and
we'll give you some corruption tips.

Arvin,

I've just checked and both laptops that I use are updated with all the
current SPs and security updates for both Office 2007 and Vista. The curious
thing is that this happens on both laptops, one a Sony Viao and the other a
Toshiba. I'm very anal about keeping my computers alike so I guess I
shouldn't be surprised it's on both.

I've run Malware and anti-virus on both laptops and the memory stick that
the databases are on.

Any new suggestions? I appreciate any help you can give me.

In case it is corruption, and that's a likelihood, here are some
suggestions:

First, always work on a copy of the database. Working on the original may
make it impossible for a repair service to fix it.

Decompile your database:
http://www.trigeminal.com/usenet/usenet004.asp

Download a copy of JetComp.exe:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;273956

Try backing up your forms as text with the undocumented SaveAsText
LoadFromText functions:

http://www.datastrat.com/Code/DocDatabase.txt

Also have a look at the Microsoft KB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;209137

Then have a look at Tony Toews' Access Corruption FAQ at:

http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm

for some suggestions. Unfortunately, some corruption cannot be fixed - you
may need to create a new database, import what can be salvaged, and recreate
the rest.

Although it's a paid service, Peter Miller does an outstanding job of saving
corrupt databases. Try this URL:

Arvin,

Thanks for all the great links. I did register the Jet dll but it didn't
help. Since it was just the one report I decided it was faster to Open a new
database, export the two small tables and the one query and start over on the
report. It didn't take long since I had already worked out the problems by
the time it got corrupted.

I appreciate your quick response.
