Delete Block

Danny Sanders

I've got a user here using Office 2003 on XP SP1. They are using an HP
laptop with the docking station and external keyboard. In Word and Outlook
(Word is using Outlook for the email editor) they can not highlight a
section of text and delete it using the Delete key on the keyboard. This
happens on the laptop keyboard also. This leads me to believe it's not some
keyboard setting.
Instead of the highlighted text being deleted the words "Delete Block No
(Yes)" appear in the lower left hand corner where usually the page number is
listed.

They can delete text from Excel and Note pad using the delete keyboard key.
With this only happening in Word and Outlook when Outlook is using Word as
the text editor, this leads me to believe this is a Word setting.

Searching for Delete Block in Word help and the MS knowledge base turns up
nothing.

Any Ideas?

TIA

In Word, open Tools > Options > General and uncheck both WordPerfect
options.

Note that you could have saved yourself a lot of typing if you'd searched
for "Delete block" before posting.

Note that I did do a search for "delete Block" within the message and
nothing showed up.

Searching again only shows up my post and the replies to my post.

How would this have saved me any typing?

I get many relevant hits just on the subject line.

If you looked at the FAQ, you would have found:

24. When I try to delete I have to confirm it.
Tools => Options => General -- uncheck the two Word Perfect
options

Interesting, when I search this news group for the subject "Delete Block" I
only get my post with the corresponding replies.

If you looked at the FAQ, you would have found:

Please point out where the FAQ to the
microsoft.public.word.application.errors news group is located. I've never
seen a FAQ for these newsgroups.

I make a habit of searching the news group before posting. I searched,
didn't find a single hit, so I posted a question.
I don't look for FAQs because I've never seen one in the many Win 2k
newsgroups I visit on a daily basis.
