Delete completed task: MSPS2003

Sara

Hi,

Will there be any impact if deleting completed task(100%) from MS Project
client?
We would like to get rid of the tasks that have been completed.
Can we just delete them?

Any help and support would be appreciated.

Yes, there will be a HUGE impact: you will lose all of your history, and
your Date, Cost, Work, and Duration variance as well. I guess I don't get
your point in wanting to delete the tasks from the Microsoft Project 2003
plan. Instead, why don't you have team members delete completed tasks from
their View My Tasks page? To do a mass deletion of completed tasks from
each user's View My Tasks page, ask your Project Server administrator to
look at the following FAQ:

Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

Thank you for your suggestion.
I thought that we should not delete.....
I am glad to post my question here.
We will go with the "Hide" option.

Thanks again.

Hi Dale,

Is there anyway we can hide the complete task from MS Project client, not
from PWA?

Hi Ben,

Thank you for your answer.
Yes! I was able to filter the completed tasks by selecting "imcompleted
task."
However, unless this has not been set in the global template, I need to set
this everytime I open the project plan, right? If I set this in the global
template, then all the project plans will be reflected so the completed tasks
in all project plans will be hided automatically?

I might be confused.
Could you please clear my questions above?

This filter is part of the local template, so each user will have it anyway.
There is no need to configure it as part of the EGT. Instead of hiding all
completed tasks automatically, educate your users to use this filter.

Hi Ben,

Thank you very much for your quick support.
As you mentioned, I will instruct my user how to use filter setting.

Thank you again.
