delete cropping and NOT compressing or reducing resolution

Why does the following happen:
A JPEG inserted into WORD 2003 was cropped.
to delete the cropped area teh COMPRSS TOOL is used.
CHANGE RESOLUTION is set to NO CHANGE, OPTION > COMPRESS PICTURE unchecked,
DLELETE CROPPED AREA ... checked.
pressing OK results in a image of clearly less quality due to incresed
compression. WHY ? I did not ask for compression !

thanks for any HELP

If you are using this image to print, the crop area will not print. I don't
understand why you are compressing an image you obviously do not want compressed.
Open the picture in the Picture Manager, crop the image, save and import into Word.

Thanks your fast reply Mary Sauer,

understand why you are compressing an image you obviously do not want compressed.
I wanted to crop it dirctly and fast in the final applic (word) to give just
the information I want and delete want I want not to show or be able to be
auncropped later.
Open the picture in the Picture Manager, crop the image, save and import into Word.
unfortunately no save a WMF or EMF possible - transform to PNG reduced
quality too much

I still under stand not that the tool does compress the pic when COMPRESS
is unchecked.

Many thanks

If the image is a vector (.wmf) it isn't that big to begin with. If there are parts
you don't want, ungroup it, delete the parts, re-shape the others with the "edit
points" tool.

Hello Mary,

As its size in MS picture manager is given in pixels it seems to be a vector
grafic.
anyway the procedure seem to be a lot of work as ther are many parts to
select and to delete .... I wanted to do cropping and delting the cropped
area to achieve FAST the requested result !

greetings Tom
