Delete email without opening?

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop How do I delete an email without opening the message. I have received emails that I want to delete without opening but if I click on them to delete, they open.

I have received emails that I want to delete without opening but if I click on
them to delete, they open.

What view are you using? Are you selecting or are you double clicking?

I use the Nuke Messages script to select a message and nuke it. This
bypasses the Deleted Items folder. If I want to the mail to go to Deleted
Items folder, I simply hit the Delete key.
