"Delete From Server" - how to automate?

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I would like to find a way to "Delete from server" when I delete an email message. I am on 2 pop servers for Rogers and an IMAP server for my Apple account. There is obviously no problem when I delete on IMAP.

I have also set the POP accounts to "leave email on server". This is necessary for my iPhone to have the messages. As I use my Mac as my device which all emails synch from, I would like an easier method rather than having to click on the "delete from server" hypertext on each email.

Any ideas? Thank you all in advance.

One more note:

I did set the Options under each account to "delete messages fro the server after they are deleted from this computer" and yest they are still on my iPhone and Rogers servers.

Do you let Entourage connect to the POP server again after deleting?
The deletion should occur on your next connection.

That said, if you intend to access your email on multiple devices (your
computer and your iPhone), you'd be better-served with an IMAP account.
Does your provider offer IMAP?

Yes I always reconnect after deletions. I like your point about IMAP. I will look into this with my ISP.

ISP does not have IMAP servers - bummer. OK I keep hitting ALT-K - sometimes works, mostly doesn't

ISP does not have IMAP servers

I blogged this recently and there are links for free providers in the
article. Gmail and FastMail both offer free and paid accounts.

Hi Diane,

Thank you for your reply. While I do realize that there are many other ISP's offering IMAP, my @mail address at Rogers (in Canada), is much like a "social insurance number" or a mobile number. I do most if not all of my business through this address. I was hoping for an easier fix while keeping my ISP rather than changing ISP's.

You can select to forward your account to one like Gmail that does offer
IMAP support.
