How do you delete things from the Work Menu? I remember there used to
be a fancy key combination, but in Office 2008 I can't find it or have
got it wrong.
Thanks
Slow but long-term fix--faster to do than to type, for sure.
Go to View | Customize Toolbars and Menus--hit Commands, select All
Categories in the left column. Tab to the right column.
Quickly type "too" to jump you go the Tools section of the right column,
and find the ToolsCustomizeRemoveMenuShortcut.
Drag it to the fake "Work" menu that appeared when you brought up the
Customize Toolbars dialog--hover to open, then release. (You can then
right-click it and select Properties to rename, if you like).
Hit OK to exit out of everything. Now you have the Remove A File
command on the Work menu. ALERT! This command will remove ANY entry
from the menu, whatever the next thing you click on is. Be careful. ESC
does not cancel it (and I just sacrificed my custom menus to test that
for you).
From the Work menu, select the Remove command, and then go back to the
Work menu to delete the file.
Alternatively, use Tools | Customize Keyboard to assign a keyboard
shortcut you will remember to the ToolsCustomizeRemoveMenuShortcut command.
Incidentally, there is no longer a default key combination because the
old default interfered with a system default shortcut key.
