Delete key prompt

I recently install word 2003 and have always used the Delete key on my
keyboard to delete blocks of text or CTRL-V or CTRL-X.
Now, every time I highlight a block of text and try to delete using the
Delete key on the keyboard, I am prompted to answer yes to confirm the
deletion. If I use the backspace key, no prompt appears.
I'd like to turn this feature off so I can just use the delete key without
having to respond to the prompt. I can't see any place to do this.

Can someone point me in the right direction?
