delete multple objects in visio

Brad

I need to select multiple objects in visio to delete. I am working with a
file developed by somebody who is no longer with my company anymore. I need
to be able to delete these objects from the sheet. There doesn't appear to
be any grouping and protection does not appear to be used. Help!

Hi Brad,

If you can't select multiple objects eg. green handles around the shape
doesn't appear then it looks like the shapes are on a locked layer
Check the layer in view/layer and see if the 'lock' tab is checked
If so remove the check and try again

A shape can be locked for deleting (check the shapesheet if the lockdelete
cell is set to '1' or rightclick the shape and go to format/protection) but
then you would still be able to select the shape and delete other shapes

So I guess the issue is with the layer

I cannot select multple shapes at one time on a paticular set of objects.
Whoever made this file origianlly, was not the most organized person. At any
rate, because of this, I cannot, for whatever reason delete a series of
objects, that appear to be grey or in a lighter color than other items on the
document, probably added later. There are over 10000 objects on this
document.

I tried the things you suggested, and other similar things, creating another
version of the file, to destroy it, if necessary trying to figure this out.
But I have only been met by failure, so far. Any other suggestions. I do
appreaciate your help however.

Hi Brad,

Shapes can be locked for selection as well
this can be done in the shapesheet in the 'protection' section cell
lockdelete or you can rightclick shape go to format/protection and check the
lockselect cell
if the shape is protected against selection and you have protected the
document by going to
view/drawing explorer, rightclick the blue visio icon (with file path
&drawing name) there is an option called 'protect document' clicked that and
select all items then you won't be able to delete & select the shapes
