Word for mac 2004 v11.2
Ibook G4
OS 10.4.6

Hi,

In word 98 I could delete back a space to delete one or more letters. It
was a key code, something like apple+delete. This doesn't work on word
2004. There must be this useful function. Can someone tell me what it is?

Thanks, Rafael

Hello -

Seems to work fine here - *delete* (not *del*) = backspace & deletes 1 char
or space to the left of the insertion point, Apple+delete deletes one
*word*+space to the left.

Could the problem be the keyboard layout of the iBook? Perhaps you need to
involve another key/numlock/whatever. I can't say for sure as I do not have
a laptop, but have used them enough to know that there can be some drawbacks
compared to full-sized keyboards.

Bob,

Sorry. I didn't describe the problem correctly.

What I mean is forward delete. The key code for deleting a letter in front
of the cursor.

On an iBook you need to hold down the fn key with the standard Delete (back)
key, and it then functions as a (forward) del key.

This is the case for all (text) applications, and the Finder, etc. It has
nothing to do with Word. It's how laptops with fewer keys in the keyboard
work, as Bob guessed.

The fn key is in lower left area of your iBook keyboard. It also works with
many other keys to get the full range of functions. Check the Mac OS Help /
Keyboard shortcuts.
