delete query generated Record Locks on Novell Network

Hi,

I was trying to delete stand alone transaction records
from a history table using a delete query on a Novell
network and I received the following message: "Can't
delete 978 record(s) due to lock violations."

Everyone was off the system. Some records were deleted.
I am using Access 97. It has worked in the past. Is this
a network problem? Referential Int. is not a problem.

I appreciate any ideas/suggestions.
