Delete task but not associated email

Debbie

I am using Outlook 2007. I have created a task from an email. I want to
delete the task when it is completed, however I want to keep the email in a
folder. When I delete the task the email is also deleted even if I moved it
to another folder. I dont want to keep completed tasks on my task list. but
still need to have access to the email for references.

How did you "create a Task from an email"?

How did you try to remove the email from the Task and file it before
deleting the Task?

When I receive an email indicating i need to take action I flag it with a
reminder. The email now shows up in the task list. After I have attended to
the email, I might have to keep it for futher reference. so I move the email
to a folder to get it out of my inbox. Then when I try to delete the task
item from my task list, i receive a message saying associated emails will be
deleted. There are times when there are several responses and reply emails
tracking the progress of a project. I dont want to lose that record but I
dont want to keep completed items in my task list either.

If you have flagged an email you do not have a Task. It's a flagged email.

If you don't want to see completed Flagged Emails in the To Do bar, change
the settings for the To Do bar.
