delete the contents in the drop down box

I typed some text in the look for box after click search button. Since then that text always display in the look for drop box. I have no way to delete it. Is there any way to delete the contents from that look for drop box? Thanks!

This depends on the application and the dialog box you are referring
to.

What application, version of the application, and what dialog box??
