Deleted and moved items remain in the Inbox

Outlook 2003. Currently changing from Outloook Express to Outlook. New
account mail is downloading to Outlook. Working in Outlook, the items that
have been moved to other folders and the items that have been deleted, remain
in the inbox with a strike through line amd a grey background. If I right
click to deleted, the choice is 'undelete'.
Express continues to work as before.
I need to be able to move items from the Inbox to appropriate folders and I
need to be able to delete items (and have them go to the 'deketed items'
folder. I suspect a setup issue, possibly in 'options' but I have been
unable to locate it.

That means you are using an exchange. If you do have an exchange (only for
office/business settings) you select Edit on the menu and Purge deleted
items. If you are a single user, delete your accts and set them up again and
this time do not select MS Exchange Server on the first acct setup page.

You are using IMAP account and need to go to Edit, Purge to remove the
crossed out items. You can also use a view that hides deleted items so they
aren't visible.
