Deleted assignments still visible on PWA with a big black cross

Given below is a posting from 2005. I am having exactly the same
issue. Any inputs on how I can remove it will be greatly appreciated.

I deleted some task from a Adminstrative project and published the
project,
but the assignments for the deleted tasks are still visible in the
resource
timesheet that too without the big black cross mark that we usualy get
when a
task is deleted of the project plan. Is there any way to find those
tasks and
remove them from the timesheet. also i checked those assignments in
the
msp_web_assignments table. the value of the WASSN_DELETED_IN_PROJ is
still
'1' for the deleted assignments
