Deleted Contacts?

Running BCM 2007. "Mysteriously lost" about 100 Contacts. Am restoring one by
one as I discover them missing. Getting them from old ACT! 6.0 database by
sending e-mail from ACT! with attached Contact to myself, opening the e-mail
in Outlook and saving the attached Contact. Questions:

1. Is there a way to have these "imported" Contacts saved automatically to
BCM? They are currently saved automatically as an Outlook Contact and then I
have to move them to BCM. Surely I should be able to save them directly to
BCM? (Why IS there even a My Contacts folder in Outlook when you have BCM
installed? Seems pointless, redundant and causes confusion!)

2. Any way to get the ACT! Contact "Notes/History" and "Activities" included
with the Contact? Even though I've checked the boxes to include them when
prompted by ACT! e-mail, they are not included with the "imported" Contact.

3. How do I remove a "Business Fax" listing from the Outlook E-mail "Select
Names" list - without deleting the entire Contact? When I start a new e-mail
in Outlook and click the "To" button to pick recipients (often the contact I
want does not show up by typing their name for some reason???) many of the
Contacts are listed by both an e-mail address AND a "Business Fax" #!!!??? I
believe some or all of those 100 contacts that got "mysteriously" lost
happened because I deleted these fax #'s from that list not realizing I was
deleting the entire contact!

Thanks!

1-2 Use BCM import to import contacts from ACT and it should put the
new conatcts in the Business Contacts folder, and bring over the
contacts' history.

3 If you think you've deleted something by mistake, look for it in the
Deleted Items folder.

Sorry for the long questions Luther but I don't know how to make my problem
clear so I can hopefully get a thoughtful answer. So, let me try again.

1. I'm not looking to import a whole database from ACT! again I've already
done that! And I see no way, using the BCM Import function, to import just
one or several contacts. The problem is that I lost about 100 contacts from
over 2,000 I already imported. I just want to import these 100 or so and have
them put in the BCM Contacts folder not the Outlook Contacts folder. ( I
guess I could import the whole datbase again to get the 100 or so deleted -
but I just went throgh that procedure and it gave me no option to not import
duplicate files!)

2. If I have to bring them over through e-mail, IS there anyway that you
know of to getthe Notes and History included with them? It came over when I
imported the database but iot's not when I attach a Contact to an e-mail -
even though I do check the boxes to incluse the info as I stated in my first
message.

3. WAY to simple an answer Luther! These were deleted several months ago -
inadvertently - and they are no longer in my Deleted Items folder. And my
question was how to get these Business Fax #'s OFF the "Select Names" list -
without deleting an entire Contact yet again - like was done (I think) with
the 100 or so mentioned above? (I have no idea why these Business Fax #'s
even appear in this list or how they got there! This list should be for
e-mail addresses only! Why would I want to select a Business Fax # to send an
e-mail too?)

So, let's try this againand see if I can get these questions resolved.
Thanks Luther!

When you import, in the BCM import wizard, there's an option for what
to do with duplicates. I think the three options are (1) create dupls,
(2) merge dups, and (3) don't import dups.

As an alternative, you can create a BCM database, import everything
from ACT, select the 100 contacts you want, export those 100 to a BCM
file, switch back to your original database, and import the BCM file
with the 100 contacts.

I don't know how to bring in the history via email, nor why the fax
numbers comingle with email addresses. Perhaps its an Outlook feature
that got turned on when a fax feature was turned on.
