deleted file recovery

I deleted an excel file that I need from a network shared drive on my
computer. I deleted with the delete key-- didn't drag it to the recycle bin
or anything.

I need to recover it, but can't find it in the recycle bin or anywhere. I
tried downloading Search and Recovery 4 but it doesn't show up there either
(S&R only wants to search my hard drive, doesn't show the network drive as an
option-- don't know if that matters).

Thanks for any help!

Thanks. I went ahead and tried this and it still didn't show up. Any thoughts?

If the space the file occupied has been overwritten it is for all
intents and purposes gone. If you have no backup copy for this "shared
network drive" your only option if you need that file is a data recovery
service. You send them the drive and wads of money. Hopefully the person
responsible for the network drive has a backup copy and will be able to
restore.

Well, thanks. I may have to do without it. Next time I'll be more cautious
with the delete button!

I strongly suggest some form of data backup. Copy to CDs if that is all
you can afford, but make backup copies of anything you don't wish to
recreate from scratch.

don't know why you dont
want to try tweakui and get
the recycle bin back on your desktop.

but it's your choice...
g.l. and hope it works out ok....

She HAS a recycle bin, the file wasn't in it because network files NEVER
go to the recycle bin, or files deleted at the command prompt or by
batch files.
