Deleted Messages

When messages arrive I sort them into eight different folders. I then
review the contents of each folder manually, respond to some messages, and
delete some.

I do not (to my knowledge) have any "automatic deletion of messages" option
set.

For some reason, messages are being deleted from these folders without any
action from me.

How can I determine what is causing this unwanted behavior and stop it?

Are they being deleted or just hidden? Insure you aren't using a hide read
message view.
If they are being deleted, is there any common denominator - ie, all
messages 2 weeks or older.

It seems to only affect one folder (the one I use most heavily of course).

The messages are deleted and are in the "Deleted Items" folder. There are
no messages in the original folder with a date prior to 2009.08.01.


Another curious fact ... the maximum folder size used to be 64K items. My
"Deleted Items" folder currently reports [74347].

If there is a incorrectly set option in the Outlook option maze I have not
been able to find it.

Any help would be appreciated. This is a significant number of historical
messages.

.... messages after 2009.08.01 that I did not manually delete are also in the
"Deleted Items" folder.
