Deleted MSOCACHE - now can't install or uninstall or even use the product...

On a recent build my MSOCACHE files got left on another hard drive (Likely becuase the install files were on that drive when I
executed them even though the installation went to my C: drive). I then was finished with that drive and reformatted it. Now almost
any office application I use wants to run an installer or complains that something is broke and asks me to run repair.

I looked up on the website and found a tool called LISTOOL, which allowed me to disable Local Install source or something like that.
It was happy - but still cannot do anything. Later I ran it to move the LIS source - since it still was pointing to a non-existant
drive. Things are a little rosier - meaning I get farther before error - but still get no place. By the way - if LIS is off why
does setup copy files to my new version of MSOCACHE.

So here is my present status:

Cannot run setup - It says "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it,
or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer patch package"

I cannot uninstall Office either - same message.

Cannot enable LIS anymore with LISTOOL - it gives error 0x8007006e

Anyone have any ideas?

My idea (short of reformatting my system and starting over) is to find all the registry values for office and delete them. Does
anyone know where the culprit entries are?

Thanks

Hi, beamguy,

You could run the Windows Installer Cleanup Tool that will remove Office
entries in the registry related to the Windows Installer and should then
allow you to re-install Office.
